NFL Power Rankings 2009 Week 4

Posted by Matthew On September - 29 - 2009

NFL Power Rankings 2009 Week 4 results present enthusiasm to some teams that are still in the league and playing well. From worst to better some teams, falls down and other got to the top. Let’s start with New York Giants (3-0) as the top team to beat up in this NFL Power Rankings Week 4 2009.

Don’t forget the New Orleans Saints (3-0) with almost perfect offense as Giants. Followed by Baltimore Ravens (3-0), New York Jets (3-0), Indianapolis Colts (3-0), and Minnesota Vikings (3-0).

Meanwhile, still on the run and needs double-team-up are Chicago Bears (2-1), Atlanta Falcons (2-1) and among others…

Previous week’s ranking in parenthesis.

1. Giants (1). Do you get the feeling the “other Bucs” as in Pirates would offer more resistance than the Tampa Bay Bucs?
2. Jets (2).
3. Saints (4). They beat up on the hapless Bills and TO’s not happy.
4. Vikings (7). Greg Lewis making that incredibly athletic catch as time expired. What a throw Favre!
5. Colts (6). Cardinals may be shot and my it’s such a great thing that I have Fitzgerald AND Boldin on my fantasy team.
6. Ravens (8). Is this a typo? The Ravens have the second-best offense of 430.3 yards per game.
7. Patriots (N/A). They beat a very good, solid Falcons team handily.
8. Chargers (N/A. No LT, no problem vs. the quickly-fading Fish.
9. Packers (N/A). In Minnesota on Monday Night against #4. Let’s see how they rank this time next week.
10. Broncos. Their defense, thanks in no small part I’m sure to a certain former Eagles safety, have allowed a league-low 13 points through three games.

NFL Power Rankings Week 4 for 2009 and the Heisman Watch dominate a football themed Sports Fix! Tim Tebow may have been knocked out of last week’s game but he still leads the Heisman race.

NFL Power Rankings Week 4 – are the New York football Giants the number one team in the NFL? It is only week four and they are as good as choice as any where in an odd season start that has the New York Jets at 3-0 and the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Arizona Cardinals at 1-2.

Add to that, the Tennessee Titans are at 0-3 and many thought they would be a powerhouse. And each week, I keep reminding folks, don’t forget the New Orleans Saints and that amazing offense. They are winning (and covering Las Vegas folks).

Entourage “Scared Straight” Season 6 Episode 11 & 12

Posted by Matthew On September - 28 - 2009

What do the creators of the beloved Entourage series have in store for the finale?  In episode 11 the show that can make 30 minutes feel like 10 set the stage for a dramatic finale.  Eric, after avoiding contracting STD’s seems to be scared straight… that’s right, scared straight back to the arms of Sloan?  I guess it was inevitable he “slipped” it in to a Hollywood petri dish sooner then later. Eric seems to display a new sort of confidence he never had before now that he has a successful career and a promiscuous love life! I predict that the problem with that is that Sloan likes the old Eric not the new over confident straight forward Eric, I’m interested to see the reaction when Eric drops the bomb on her!

Ari with even more power? The character breaking the rules, you never know what to expect from this guy is now offering 75 million for former bosses agency!  With this kind of power he could be stomping over half of Hollywood, but for some reason I think he may be biting off more then he can chew… what’s the downfall going to be?  Its amazing how fast Ari can draw a picture of a vagina!  “I’d kill my wife before I would get a divorce!” … Smart man!  Are wedding bells ringing for Turtle and Jamie-Lynn? I think Turtle used his hot co-eds to drive some jealousy in to the hart of Jamie-Lynn, well it seemed to work after Jamie dropped the LOVE bomb on Turtle leaving him looking like a lost puppy.  I think we can expect some spontaneous actions coming from the love struck Turtle!

Entourage-Season-6-ep-2

Drama and his self induced panic attack, this guy needs to get on some meds or something! Wait he does, after being diagnosed with his little condition he decides its time to take a break from the limelight, however I have a feeling the indecisive Drama will be right back at it in the next episode, auditioning for the director that gets himself off by messing with the crazy Drama queen.

Bailed Out Banks Not Paying Taxes?

Posted by Matthew On September - 27 - 2009

Thirteen of the largest recipients of the government’s massive bailout failed to pay more than $220 million in federal taxes, congressional investigators said yesterday, prompting a new round of accusations that banks were abusing the financial rescue program.

The Internal Revenue Service said in March that a portion of the money had been paid back since congressional investigators gathered their information. Still, many in Congress were furious, noting that firms with the largest tax liabilities owed $113 million and $102 million.

“This is shameful. It is a disgrace,” said Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.), chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee’s oversight subcommittee, which examined the IRS data. “The American people are fed up, and they are fired up. And they are not going to take it anymore.”

Maybe this is the reason that there are so many people who are trying to do everything in their power to pay the least amount in taxes. The American people keep paying and for what we are still in the biggest economic depression since World War 2 in the 1930’s and 40’s, and its going to continue to get worse.

The head of the federal watchdog agency charged with prosecuting fraud in the program said his office would investigate to see whether any crimes had been committed by the firms, none of which were named. Executives of banks receiving bailout funds had to certify that their firms did not owe taxes, and if they knowingly lied, they could be prosecuted.

Could be prosecuted, how much these people get to get away with. They should be prosecuted no questions asked. It is highly ironic that a bank, a place that deals with money cannot sufficiently keep up especially when in the time they lend at a high interest and give lower interest to Participants or Lenders.

The disclosures ratcheted up anger on Capitol Hill at both the conduct of Wall Street firms benefiting from taxpayer dollars and the Treasury Department’s oversight of the program. Lawmakers are still furious over multimillion-dollar bonuses to executives at firms receiving bailout money as well as lavish retreats and expenses by those companies.

Because of these huge bonuses that the tax payers are paying for, it is going to make it harder than ever for the economy to do the things that must be done to get everything moving forward. The greedy are growing, and the desperation of the people is going to continue to drag us down in this huge economic spiral.

Given the complexity of corporate tax laws, people should not assume that all these taxpayers have necessarily done something wrong,” said Frank Keith, an IRS spokesman.

50 percent of the $220 million in unpaid taxes described to the panel this month had recently been paid back, though he declined to describe the payments further or say whether more unpaid taxes had accrued by the bailout firms since then.

The Post asked the 23 largest recipients of bailout funds yesterday whether they had any unpaid taxes?? Spokes people from only 9 companies responded stating NO! — Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Citigroup, Capital One, Northern Trust, CIT Group, Marshall & Isley Corporation, Chrysler, and General Motors. What happened to the other 14 companies that never responded that is over 55% that declined to comment, did not return phone and e-mail messages.

The congressional anger came from both parties. Sen. Charles E. Grassley (Iowa), the ranking Republican on the Senate Finance Committee, said: “Unpaid tax liabilities damage confidence in our tax system and, in this case, increase cynicism that there are two sets of rules, one set for the big guys and one set for everyone else.”

There was a hearing that was held to discuss the bailout. During the hearing it was brought to attention that the unpaid taxes described in the data were the tip of the iceberg.

Ray Kurzweil, Upload Your Brain By 2040?

Posted by Matthew On September - 27 - 2009

…or at least that’s what Ray Kurzweil thinks. He has spent his life inventing machines that help people, from the blind to dyslexics. Now, he believes we’re on the brink of a new age – the ’singularity’ – when mind-boggling technology will allow us to email each other toast, run as fast as Usain Bolt (for 15 minutes) – and even live forever. Is there sense to his science – or is the man who reasons that one day he’ll bring his dad back from the grave just a mad professor peddling a nightmare vision of the future?

Should, by some terrible misfortune, Ray Kurzweil shuffle off his mortal coil tomorrow, the obituaries would record an inventor of rare and visionary talent. In 1976, he created the first machine capable of reading books to the blind, and less than a decade later he built the K250: the first music synthesizer to nigh-on perfectly duplicate the sound of a grand piano. His Kurzweil 3000 educational software

, which helps students with learning difficulties such as dyslexia and attention deficit disorder, is likewise typical of an innovator who has made his name by combining restless imagination with technological ingenuity and a commendable sense of social responsibility.

However, these past accomplishments, as impressive as they are, would tell only half the Kurzweil story. The rest of his biography – the essence of his very existence, he would contend – belongs to the future.

Following the publication of his 2005 book, The Singularity is Near: When Humans Transcend Biology, Kurzweil has become known, above all, as a technology speculator whose predictions have polarised opinion – from stone-cold scepticism and splenetic disagreement to dedicated hero worship and admiration. It’s not just that he boldly envisions a tomorrow’s world where, for example, tiny robots will reverse the effects of pollution, artificial intelligence will far outstrip (and supplement) biological human intelligence, and humankind “will be able to live indefinitely without ageing”. No, the real reason Kurzweil has become such a magnet for blogospheric debate, and a tech-celebrity, is that he’s convinced those future predictions – and many more just as stunning – are imminent occurrences. They will all, he steadfastly maintains, happen before the middle of the 21st century.
