Vikings vs. 49ers postgame recap 9/27/09

Posted by Jared On September - 27 - 2009

The Vikings were able to pull it together and defeat the 49ers today. After a blocked field-goal return for a TD in the final seconds of the first half, the Vikings were able to come back, with the help of Brett Favre, to pull off the W in the final seconds. Favre finished 24 for 47 with 301 yards, the most passing yards in a game since 2005. It was also the most pass attempts Favre has made since November 11th, 2007 when he beat the Vikings playing for the Packers.

The Vikings dominated most of the first half and had a 10-7 lead right before the end of the half when Clements returned a blocked field-goal attmept 57 yards for a touchdown.

The Vikings were not in good shape when they remained 4 points behind with 12 seconds remaining. However, Favre came in and did what he does best, he made the play when it counted. A 32 yard touchdown pass was thrown to Greg Lewis who made a miraculous catch in the back of the endzone while Favre watched from his stomach after getting hit. The TD was enough to put the Vikings ahead with 2 seconds remaining and got them the win. A fantastic matchup and an amazing finish for the Vikings who go to 3-0.

Germany begins production on the Artega GT

Posted by Matthew On September - 27 - 2009

dynamikautowerk

The Artega GT is the world’s first car with bodywork made entirely of polyurethane. The roof and bonnet now contain paper honeycomb in order to provide even greater rigidity and reduce weight. And the underbody now consists of aluminium honeycomb material, which is also more rigid and lightweight.  By implementing extensive safety measures in the chassis, including a frontal deformation zone and side impact protection, and after undergoing numerous crash tests, the Artega GT has attained a level of safety that is comparable with large production series cars. The four airbags, seatbelt tensioners and ultra-modern Bosch chassis systems set standards that have not previously been seen in small series production cars. In addition, the Artega GT now also has engine electronics that have been newly developed in order to ensure that they suit the car’s characteristics perfectly. The exceptional agility of the Artega GT is assisted by the double-shift gearbox that has been specially manufactured by Volkswagen. The originally planned series transmission was not compatible with this requirement. The unique technological package is rounded off by a state-of-the-art on-board electrical system that would normally only be seen in large scale production, as well as the latest in headlight technology and wing mirrors, which already meet the latest legal requirements.

Vikings vs. 49ers 9/27/09

Posted by Jared On September - 26 - 2009

Tomorrow, the Minnesota Vikings will face their toughest challenge so far this season. The 49ers have been proving themselves as a great football team, they have excelled in running the ball and stopping the run on defense. Frank Gore will pose the most serious threat tomorrow. The Vikings, the leader in run defense in the NFL since 2006, have already allowed 109 yards per game, on the ground, this season. With Gore coming off a 207 yard performance last week against the Seahawks, Kevin and Pat Williams will definitely have their work cut out for them.

On the other hand, the Vikes are 12-9 against the 49ers at home including 5-3 at the Dome. The key to this game for the Vikes will be to establish a good passing game. The 49ers have given up an average of 238 passing yards and with their run defense looking good, a few go-routes to Berrian would be nice.
